The idea of creating this project
started when i was pondering about the problems with the school system, in
Brazil and I realized I could use the 8 years of experience I had
working as a public English Teacher in Brazil. I was also influenced
when I worked as a Portuguese literacy teacher for adults called
"Projeto Paulo Freire". Even though, the aims of the project were beyond
reach.
After 2 years of
research, I started to develop the project. In 2006, we ran a pilot
project in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. The success of this first attempt
turned the primary project into a 3-module course. The first module of
160 hours took place July 2 - 27, 2007.

The Purpose of the Project is to offer
an EFL (English as Foreign Language) course focused on how to teach
effectively. This course was offered exclusively to Public School Teachers
in the State of Piauí, Brazil.
The Project Aims to bring new
information on the teaching-learning process to the participants. It
familiarizes the teachers with new methodologies, approaches, curriculum,
classroom management, and teaching techniques. The Project also provides a
rich cultural and professional exchange between the participants and the
instructors. We improve the teachers’ ability to reach the students.
The Project
is based on the Belief that, by giving more opportunities
to Brazilian Teachers&Students to
reach an academic education will have a positive impact on the society. By
increasing the skill level in the students there will be more job
opportunities, resulting on a decreasing of social-economical problems. |
